hos·pi·tal·i·ty

  1. the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers

2. all the little thoughtful details that make you feel cared for

Retreat day was born out of an over decade long friendship between Suz and Mindy. Encouraging and noticing that our different passions and gifts could come together and create a nurturing environment for growth and the journey towards wholeness. We want to create experiences that will help cultivate self and soul care that lasts.

Our events have three pillars: 1) Quiet contemplative space to access your inner voice and vision. 2) Communal supportive connection to listen well and cultivate compassion. 3) Out of the space of interior reflection and compassionate connection we create something beautiful together.

Suz Born

host, co-creator & art director

Suz’s work/life pendulum is always swinging between creativity and compassion. As an artist she has a passion for watercolor like textures and feminine forms. Her aim is to create work that feels embracing and captures a glimpse of the subject's true essence. She is trained in psychology and interior design and loves creating safe, communal spaces that encourage rest, healing and connection.

Over the past couple years, she has studied Ayurveda, an ancient Indian wisdom tradition that is intrinsically connected to seasonal living. She is an Ayurveda wellness coach, and is in her second year of studying at The Shakti School. The emphasis on wholeness & letting nature inspire our daily rhythms is what drew her to this wellness system. This aligns and supports Retreat Day’s focus on seasonal inspired events that tend to self + soul care.

Working from her home studio in Los Angeles, her rose garden serves as inspiration. She is especially drawn to the colors of the flowers as they wither and sees a deep connection between floral and feminine forms. She loves her home and believes that the unique collection of spaces lend well to intimate gatherings for contemplation, connection and creation. Suz has two kids and has been married for 20 years.
